Buck Mountain lies on the southeast shore of Lake George, and is a perfect introduction to
the Adirondacks. The views from the summit encompass thousands of square miles of
the Adirondacks to the north and west, parts of Vermont's Green Mountains to the east, and
Lake George and Lake Champlain.
Rogers Rock
Distance - 2 1/2 miles roundtrip
Elevation 500 feet
Hiking Time - 2 hours
At the outset, the hike is mostly uphill and northerly, and then continues along a
seemingly unused path up to a ledge until an open expanse of scenery appears to the west.
Sleeping Beauty, Bumps Pond, and Bumps
Pond Overlook Distance - 4.5 mile loop

The overlook atop the cliffs offers a wide vista. The mountains of Vermont rise
beyond the outline of the Champlain Valley to the east.
